DESCRIPTION:
Coolidge Park is one of the largest urban parks in the southern United States. Its location along the north shore of the Tennessee River is directly across from the Tennessee Aquarium and downtown Chattanooga, and serves to help surround the Park with a distinctly urban environment. The Park connects to one of the longest dedicated pedestrian bridges in the United States, and also serves as a portion of the River Walk - a linear park that extends seven miles from the Chickamauga Dam to Renaissance Park, directly downstream from Coolidge.
Coolidge Park features an interactive pedestrian fountain, a reconstructed carousel enclosed within a dedicated structure, an additional public-use multi-functional enclosed facility, and a landscaped “meadow” with an adjoining raised performance stage, all of which serve to make Coolidge Park the primary public anchor for the North Shore area of Chattanooga.
